HOW (AND WHY) TO USE CREAM EYESHADOW

I know it’s been a few weeks since I’ve checked in here… This summer has been a whirlwind - as I’m sure it has been for you, too. We’ve been so busy making memories as a family, going to the pool and zoo every week, having such a blast experiencing new things. The summer is just flying by!

I’ve got to admit, I’m not usually the best at jumping into new things. Ya know the whole “if it ain't broke, don’t fix it” philosophy? That’s totally me. But there’s been this one thing I’ve been wanting to do that’s been on my mind all summer.

It all started when my oldest daughter, Lillie, started taking swim lessons. She was nervous at the pool and we really wanted to help her gain confidence.

The thing is, I am a nervous swimmer myself.

I never learned the proper way to side-breathe or swim without looking like a wonky fish. So when I got an email from my town pool that they were offering lessons to adults, I decided to dive right in.

I cannot begin to tell you how nervous I was before my lesson. The pool was empty (thankfully) - but my heart was racing out of my chest. The instructor was probably 15 years younger than me and super kind. She could tell I might have a panic attack in the water at any minute.

We eased into it and she led me through some basic drills. To my amazement, I was catching on really fast. I was able to swim across the pool with proper technique (compared to my old ways, anyway) by the end of the lesson. As Lillie likes to say after her lessons, “I did it!!”

Trying something new was scary, but at the same time, it was much easier than I thought it would be. This might sound cheesy, but I felt really, really good about myself.

So why do I bring this up to y’all?

I work with private clients all of the time that tell me they’re nervous to take a risk and try new products or techniques. And what’s “new” to most of them? Well, anything cream.

And cream eyeshadows tend to be the first thing my clients run away from.

So I’m here to tell you… don’t run! Try something new! It might be WAAAY easier than you thought. And you’ll be saying to yourself, “I did it!” just like I did.

If you haven’t heard, Beautycounter just launched their cream eyeshadows last week. They’re all really gorgeous and SO simple to apply (I promise). If you’re a beginner (or not), these are 100% worth testing out. One swipe of color on the lid is all you need to look put together. Just gently tap it in with your finger to blend and call it a day. Pick a neutral color to start if you’re nervous!

What’s so special about these cream shadows? Here’s the scoop:

> Pearlescent Blend - this is good for a soft-focus effect that’s glowy, not glittery.

Botanical-Based Polymer - this is major because it’s known to defend against signs of aging on the eyelids while providing color-true benefits.

> Cucumber and Chamomile Extracts - which you'll love because of its essential vitamins, minerals, and cooling properties that help soothe and hydrate the delicate skins on the eyelids.
